Hello Rainy BC!

Andrew and his father and sister unloading hives at our holding location in BC.

What's new on the farm:

Well, the bees made it safe and sound!

After a journey across the prairies, through the Rockies, and across the strait of Georgia, the bees have arrived in the wet and wild west coast.

The first task was to distribute the hives to several different yard sites.

We spread them out so that when spring comes, there will be enough food for the hives without having to compete with each other.

We can't keep them all in one spot, so over the years we have worked with other landowners and farmers who let us keep our bees on their property.

Next, the bees get another health check. Then they are wrapped up to protect them from the rainy weather they'll get throughout the winter.

After that, there's nothing else we can do but wait until spring to see how they made it!

Stewed Honey Apples

This is a healthy “dessert” topping that is made with pantry ingredients! You can try it with our Lemon Ginger honey for an extra citrus punch or mellow it out with our pure Creamed Honey.

Ingredients:

  • 4 apples, diced
  • 3 tsp honey (add to taste depending on how sweet/tart your apples are)
  • 1/2-1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tbsp cornstarch

Directions:

  1. Add everything to a sauce pan and cook covered on medium low.
  2. Stir occasionally.
  3. Apples should be tender within 5-10 minutes.
  4. Remove and serve warm or at room temp!
