Warming Up The Winter With Honey
The cold weather and short days can only mean one thing...it’s cozy season! So boil yourself a pot of tea, get into your comfiest clothes, and give some of these raw honey ideas a try.
Raw honey is well-known for being a delicious addition to everything from honey miso ribs to your favourite warm beverage. But did you know that honey can also be used in skincare and more?
The secret to a cozy indoor session is feeling fresh, clean, and comfy whilst warming up to your favourite drink. Honey can play an integral role in all of the above! Here are a couple of ways you can incorporate honey into your cozy winter routine.
Using honey as a face mask
The properties of raw honey make it wonderful for skincare. It is a natural humectant meaning it draws moisture into the skin leaving it feeling soft, radiant, and glowing. It also has acne fighting capabilities as raw honey is antibacterial.
Our favourite and simplest way to make a honey mask is to apply a thin layer of honey directly onto slightly damp skin using a circular motion. Applying the mask this way gives added exfoliation benefits. Have a cup of tea as you leave the mask on for up to 20 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. Cozy!
Using honey as part of a bath soak
If you want to up your relaxation game, give our honey bath soak a try. Dissolve one heaping tablespoon of honey in a cup of warm water, then add it to your bath. The hydrating powers will leave your skin feeling silky smooth. Add a couple drops of lavender essential oils to the mix to loosen up even more.
Nothing like a warm bath to really make your day on a cold winter evening.
Applying honey as a body scrub
If you don’t have a bath but still want to enjoy the benefits of a bath soak, try making a simple raw honey body scrub. With just a few household ingredients you can create a spa-quality scrub that will leave you feeling clean and refreshed! What you will need is raw honey, coconut oil, and brown sugar.
Warm up ¼ cup of honey in a small bowl, add two tablespoons of coconut oil and ½ cup of brown sugar. Mix well to get the perfect body scrub. Applying in a circular motion will help exfoliate your skin, leaving it soft and hydrated.
